What’s inside

Everything you need to sit down and write.

Three sections, built around the three places people actually stall. Not knowing how to open, not knowing what to put in the middle, and having nothing to write on that feels worth the effort.

01

Ten letter templates

A thank-you that goes deeper than a card, a thinking-of-you, a love letter to the person you live with, one to a grandparent, one to a child to be opened years later, one to someone grieving, the hard letter you have been carrying, and three more. Each gets a full page of its own, with a short note underneath on the one thing that makes that particular letter land.

02

Thirty prompts, and how to actually write one

All thirty prompts sit on a single page you can keep with your paper, for the days you want to write and have nothing particular to say. There is also a short section on the craft of it. How to open without apologising, why one specific Tuesday beats a page of warm sentiment, and how to stop before you trail off.

03

Five printable letterheads

The MERRI house sprig, a spray of flowers, a eucalypt branch, three swallows, and a par avion postal border. All five are drawn rather than photographed, so they print properly on an ordinary home printer and still look right in black and white. Print a stack of whichever one you like.

04

Three envelopes, and one with no envelope at all

Cut-and-fold templates in three sizes that genuinely fit on a single A4 sheet at full scale, with the cut line in gold and the folds in grey. There is also a page on folding an A4 letter into its own envelope, which is what you want at eight in the evening when there is nothing in the drawer.

A look inside

Thirty-one pages of templates, prompts and paper.

The kind of thing that lives in the drawer with your pens. Each template gets its own page, the thirty prompts sit together on one, and the back half is all printable paper you can run off whenever you need it.

Who it is for

Honest about who this suits.

Letters are a slow medium, and no kit can make you suddenly love writing them. Here is who tends to actually use this one.

This is for you if

  • You keep meaning to send someone a real letter and never quite sit down.
  • You have a friend, sister, mum or godchild who would burst into tears at a card in the post.
  • You like writing by hand but freeze when the page is blank.
  • You want printable stationery you can use again and again, not a single template.
  • You think wax seals are slightly silly and slightly perfect.

It is probably not for you if

  • You are looking for one specific letter for one specific occasion (a sympathy card, say).
  • You do not want to print anything, ever.
  • You are after pre-printed paper greeting cards, not blanks you write on.
  • You want a single printable page rather than a thirty-one page kit.
Format and delivery

How it arrives.

You land on a download page the moment you pay, and a copy goes to your inbox. Print only the bits you need, when you need them.

Instant PDF

The download opens as soon as you check out, and we email you a copy as well. Nothing to ship, nothing to install.

31 pages, built for A4

Designed around A4 at full scale, which matters for the envelope templates. Print those at one hundred percent with page scaling turned off and they cut and fold exactly as drawn.

Print and reprint

Print one sheet at a time as you need it. The stationery and envelope templates are designed to be reused as many times as you like.

A few honest questions

You might be wondering.

Do I need to be good at writing?

No. The templates are deliberately structured so that someone with no idea what to say can sit down and produce a warm, specific letter in about fifteen minutes. The point is the letter, not the prose.

Do I need a wax seal?

No, although each envelope template has a small dotted circle showing where one would sit. A wax seal kit runs to about twenty dollars if you fall for it properly, which a surprising number of people do.

Can I print only some pages?

Yes, and that is how most people use it. The letterheads get run off in batches whenever the pile runs low, the envelopes maybe once or twice a year, and the templates and prompts get printed once and left in the drawer with the pens.

Is it Australian English?

Yes, spelt the proper way, and the postage notes are written for Australia Post rates and sizes. One honest detail: a C6 or DL envelope flat is physically bigger than an A4 sheet, so it cannot be printed at home at full scale. The three templates in the kit are sized for notes and cards and do fit, and there is a separate page on folding an A4 letter into its own envelope for anything longer. A bought C6 costs a few cents from any newsagent.

Can I gift it to someone?

Yes. The nicest version is to buy two so they get a copy of their own, and then write them a letter out of yours. If you would rather we sent it as a gift with a note from you, write to hello@wearemerri.com.au and we will sort it out.

Someone is waiting on a letter from you

Sit down and write one.

About what one nice card costs in a shop, except this one gets you ten templates, thirty prompts, five letterheads and three envelopes that you can print again every time the drawer runs empty.
